This Sheep Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) database (SheepQTLdb) has gathered all sheep QTL data published during the past 10+ years. The database and its peripheral tools make it possible to compare, confirm and locate on sheep chromosomes the most feasible location for genes responsible for quantitative trait important to sheep production.

The current release of the SheepQTLdb contains 51 QTLs from 13 publications. Those QTLs represent 27 different traits (see data summary for more recent updates). These data have also been submitted to the NCBI Gene and Map Viewer resources, where the information about markers are matched to marker records in NCBI's UniSTS database. For SheepQTLdb development and releases history, see this supplementary note.

Information in the SheepQTLdb can be accessed in the following ways:
  1. Search
By chromosomes, animal trait names and/or key-words in the publication).

  2. Browse
By chromosome numbers or animal trait ontology tree.

  3. View Maps
A whole genome map and individual chromosomal maps are available.

  4. Data Summary
QTL data statistics by chromosomes, traits, trait types and publication year.

Frequently asked questions: The FAQ is designed to serve as a User's Guide to QTLdb, addressing its use, application and related issues.
New Data: If you have new QTL data that has not been included in the current QTLdb release, please either (1) register as a QTLdb curator to input it by yourself (see below), or (2) notify Jill Maddox so that it can be included in the next database release.
Data Curators / Editors: The QTLdb is open to public for data entry and update. One can also use the QTLdb as a research tool by keeping the own data as private.
